As most of you know, my background is in Physical Therapy. I worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 17 years prior to going back to school for Massage Therapy in 2015. It's been an amazing journey over the years and I know my previous knowledge has made me the Massage Therapist I am today.
I say daily, "I am not your quick fix!"."I can't do this all by myself.".."You are just as responsible for your healing, I just ignite the fire. .."Deep pressure is NOT always for the win!" and ... have to say, "Did you stretch? Did you hydrate?" The answers rang from "YES" to "I didn't know I had to do all that?" So the last few months l've been changing things up at the office, if clients are willing. I completely understand the want for a one hour relaxation massage, however, the human body is a complex machine. When you walk in my door in pain, I want to help initiate your bodies response to improve overall function and most importantly, gradually begin to decrease your pain.
Over the last few years, I've had some skeptics with my Neuro Kinetic Therapy technique. I've had some clients have "ah ha" moments and I even had someone even say, "work is easier, I'm not as exhausted at the end of my day."' The last one, got a real quick happy dance response from me.
So, it's safe to say I'm not your average Massage Therapist. I will listen, will try my best to educate you on the "why", and most importantly together we will figure out a Wellness Plan that works best for you. I can honestly say, for one lady it was taking time to breathe throughout her day, however, for another client it was 2 exercises and 2 stretches.
Make yourself a priority and schedule today!
